EMEA Corporate PPAs Reach 7.8GW in June

27 global corporations entered PPAs in June, albeit dropping from May, with EMEA and AMER PPAs totaling 7.8GW and 8.2GW, respectively, so far this year, BNEF data show.

  • Some 2.69GW of global corporate PPAs were signed in June, with the largest EU PPA entered between SNCF and Neoen for 139MW in France, while an 810MW PPA in America was agreed to in the same month.
  • Globally, PPA volumes have reached about 19.5GW over January-June, compared to 46GW across the whole of 2023 but remain on track for a record year, BNEF said (see chart).
  • Solar has made up about 12.4GW of global PPA agreements so far in 2024, with wind making up about 7.1GW.
  • Microsoft, Rio Tinto, Amazon and Google are the largest global off-takers in 2024, with the majority of supply agreements done through solar farms.
