EMISSIONS: EU Carbon Permit Price at Lowest Since 9 April

The latest EU ETS CAP3 EU auction cleared lower at €62.71/ton CO2e, compared with €64.94/ton CO2e in the previous session and the lowest since 9 April according to EEX.

  • The cover ratio was at 1.72, below the five-year average but within the five-year range.
  • There was a total of bids 25 with 19 successful bids.
  • The mean price was €63.69/t CO2e, with the median value at €62.41/t CO2e.
  • EU ETS Dec24 has regained some ground following the auction result with small gains in EU natural gas prices, despite weakness from forecasts for mild weather across NW Europe, limiting fossil-fuel burn expectations for early heating demand.
    • EUA DEC 24 up 0.5% at 63.52 EUR/MT
