EMISSIONS: Orsted, Equinor Ink Carbon Removal Credits Deal

Orsted signed an agreement to sell carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits totalling 330,000 tonnes of CO2 to Equinor over a period of ten years, the firm said.

  • The deal is part of Orsted’s CCS project, Orsted Kalundborg CO2 Hub, which will capture 430k tons of CO2 per year from two of the firm’s biomass CHP plants starting 2026.
  • Earlier this week, Orsted announced it has signed an agreement with MT Group for EPC works for the Kalundborg Hub, which is scheduled to be operational from end-2025.
