India’s eight key industries’ production fell by 1.8% on the year in August, compared with a growth of 6.1% in July, data from the Central Statistics Office showed.

  • The infrastructure output accounts for 40% of industrial production
  • Petroleum refinery products fell 1.0% y/y vs a rise of 6.6% y/y in July
  • Electricity output fell 5.0% y/y vs a rise of 7.9% y/y in July
  • Coal fell 8.1% y/y compared to rise of 6.8% y/y in July.
  • Crude oil fell 3.4% y/y vs a fall of 2.9% y/y in July
  • Natural gas fell 3.6% y/y vs a fall of 1.3% y/y in July
