Eskom Boosts Load-Shedding Due To High Demand And Drop In Generation Capacity

Eskom says in a statement that it is implementing Stage 4 load-shedding until 05:00 on Tuesday and is planning to move between Stage 2 (05:00-14:00) and Stage 4 (14:00-05:00) thereafter. This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice.

  • This represents an escalation from the previous pattern, which assumed moving between no power rationing and Stage 3 load-shedding.
  • The utility said that high demand and slight reduction in generation capacity were responsible for the implementation of Stage 4 outages.
