Eskom to Appear in Court, Appealing for Price-Setting Powers

  • Beleaguered utility Eskom appears in court having taken the energy regulator Nersa to court over the regulator's decision to reject proposals on electricity fee adjustments for the coming three years. The regulator initially favoured a different fee determination process, but this was criticized by the utility.
  • Ramaphosa this morning issued a letter outlining the strengths of the second part of his flagship Presidential Employment Stimulus plan, with the second phase seen providing almost ZAR1bln in funding for youth employment programmes and skills training.
  • USD/ZAR has stabilised ahead of the Friday low and the 200-dma at 14.6005/14.5737 which act as first support. 14.7582, the 50-dma and 14.7543 could provide some resistance ahead of any progress toward the 15.00 handle.
