EU Gas Maintenance: Norwegian Maintenance to Peak this Weekend

Norwegian pipeline natural gas supplies to Europe will further tighten this week as peak annual maintenance season is approaching with 181mcm/d of capacity unavailable this weekend. Karsto works started today and Oseberg has added works for early-September, following an addition to the schedule yesterday, Gassco remit data show.

  • Norwegian pipeline gas flows to Europe have been relatively stable so far this week at around 180mcm/d, compared with levels just above 300mcm/d early last week. Unavailable capacity is expected to rise this weekend to 181mcm/d.
  • Scheduled maintenance at Oseberg has been adjusted. Works will affect 15.5mcm/d on 2-4 September, 5mcm/d on 5-7 September and 10.5mcm/d on 7-15 September.
  • Works at the large Kollsnes processing plant ramped up on Saturday with unavailable capacity of 153mcm/d until 7 September. Annual maintenance at the Troll field ramped up to 125mcm/d of unavailable capacity on 26 August and will also conclude on 7 September.
  • Works at the Kvitebjorn field will last until 19 September.
  • The Visund field began maintenance on Saturday and will last until 7 September, affecting 17mcm/d of capacity. Visund added another 5.9mcm/d unavailability on 7-8 September.
  • Works at the Karsto processing plant began today until 17 September with 12.6mcmc/d unavailable capacity.
  • The Gina Krog import terminal will have reduced capacity of 8mcm/d until 7 September.
  • In the UK, the St Fergus terminal will has adjusted the schedule. Unavailable capacity will be at 26.8mcm/d until 7 September and 30.8mcm/d on 2-4 September. Works will continue with unavailable capacity of 30.8mcm/d on 7-29 September.
  • In France, the annual maintenance at the Dunkerque LNG will end on 9 September with unavailable capacity of 47mcm/d. The Fos Cavaou terminal will have no ships and sendout on 9 September until 2 October.
