EU Gas Storage Withdrawals Increase Above Five Year Range

Higher than normal European gas storage withdrawal rates have added to the TTF price support late this week. Withdrawal rates have been rising faster than the seasonal normal this week up to 6,597GWh/d and greater than the previous five year range on Nov 29.

  • Net withdrawals in the week to Nov 29 averaged 4,003GWh/d compared to the 2018-2022 average for the period of 3,490GWh/d.
  • European natural gas storage is down to 95.93% full on Nov 29 according to GIE data but remains well above the seasonal five year average of 85.2%.
  • Storage in Germany is at 247.85TWh (97.2% full), Italy is at 186.2TWh (94.5%), Netherlands at 135.4TWh (95.0%), France at 129.9Wh (96.7%) and Austria at 95.0Wh (97.3%).
