EU Imports of Oil from Azerbaijan in Jan-Nov 2023 up 4.8%

EU imports of oil from Azerbaijan in the first 11 months of 2023 rose by 4.8% compared with the same period in 2022, according to Interfax Azerbaijan citing Eurostat data.

  • EU members imported 18.7m mt of oil from Azerbaijan in the first 11 months of 2023.
  • The largest importer was Italy, taking 10.4m mt, up 24.9% on the year. This was followed by the Czech Republic with 1.8m mt, up 14.5%.
  • November imports were 1.3m mt, up 31.5% year-on-year. Italy also received the highest imports at 0.518m mt, down 10.9% on the year.
  • For whole year 2022, the EU imported 19.8m mt of oil from Azerbaijan.
