EU November Gas Demand Grew 2% YoY

EU natural gas demand in November rose by 2% year on year in November as colder temperatures supported gas demand for heating, but overall consumption remained 25% below 2021 levels, IEA Analyst, Greg Molnar said via LinkedIn.

  • November residential gas demand for heating rose 10% above 2022 levels, while heating intensity remained comparable to last year's levels, indicating that some of the behavioural changes from last year are still in place, Molnar said.
  • Power sector gas burn was down 20% year on year due to higher renewables output and improved nuclear availability.
