EUA Funds Positioning Turns More Bullish

Investment funds positioning in EU ETS futures on the ICE exchange turned more bullish with net short positioning declining to the lowest since mid-July, latest COT data as of 2 August showed.

  • Investment Funds net short positionings decreased by 6,434 to -19,044.
  • Investment Firm net short positionings increased by 13,149 to -308,732.
  • Commercial Undertaking net long positionings edged higher by 5,549 to 251,859.
  • EU ETS Dec24 rebounded last week amid support from natural gas prices due to rising tensions in the Middle East. EUA prices are tracking a weekly net decline so far this week after Monday’s sell off in equity and energy markets.
