FOREX: EUR hits week's lows as ECB (reportedly) question forecasts
-The greenback gained against most others Tuesday, with a poor performance from
the EUR and GBP in particular helping prop up the USD. Various ECB sources
reports crossed, firstly suggesting that several ECB policymakers doubt the
bank's economic projections H2 and some have questioned the forecasting models
themselves. GBP underperformed the EUR from the off, as reports that Brexit
discussions between the major UK parties had "stalled" squashed hopes of a
near-term resolution.
-In EMFX, BRL underperformed as local reports suggested further friction between
the country's economy minister and President, following further criticism of the
government from the lower house speaker Maia, slowing the progress of the
country's pivotal pensions reform. USD/BRL briefly traded above 3.90, hitting
the best levels since late march.
-Japanese & US trade balance, UK & Eurozone inflation data crosses Wednesday as
well as speeches from BoE's Carney, ECB's Villeroy & Lautenschlaeger and Fed's
Bullard & Harker.
