EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD last deals at $1.1212, almost unchanged on the day.
- After trading sideways through yesterday's Asia-Pac session, the rate slid
steadily as the greenback grew in strength. Data releases from both sides of the
Atlantic amplified the move, as German ZEW survey was quite downbeat, while U.S.
retail sales topped expectations. Yet, the $1.1200 barrier remained intact.
- Bears look for a dip below $1.1200 before challenging the key support at
$1.1193, which represents the Jul 9 low. Bulls need to clear the cloud base/top
at $1.1228/30 before turning focus to the 50-DMA, which comes in at $1.1244..
- The European Parliament voted in favour of Ursula von der Leyer's candidature
for EU Commission Presidency. Former German Defence Min will take over from
Jean-Claude Juncker on Nov 1. Von der Leyen pledged her support for green
policies, social justice and the rule of law, but also commented on the Brexit
deal, ruling out its re-negotiation.
- Final EZ CPI figures will be released later today, with Italian industrial
orders also due. ECB's de Cos will speak on Thursday.
