Europe Has Little Prospect of Summer Heatwaves

Very hot temperatures in western Europe are only likely to materialise at the end of the summer or in eastern Europe, Atmospheric G2 said, cited by Bloomberg.

  • Atmospheric G2 revised down its temperature expectations for western Europe, while the outlook for eastern Europe has been revised up for July, the firm said.
  • July-September is likely to be relatively wet in the northwest and dry in the southeast, AG2 said.
  • Cold artic air had caused unusually cold weather in central and western Europe in June, it said.
  • Central and western Europe are unlikely to face a heatwave before mid-July, Eylert Ellefsen, senior analyst at Montel’s EQ, said.
  • “There is still a lot of snow left at higher altitudes in the Alps, which will mean healthy river flows until mid-July,” Ellefsen said.
