Europe Needs To Include Gas In Transition Plan: ENI CEO

Europe needs to include natural gas in its long-term transition plan to support investment in infrastructure and fuel production to ensure security of energy supply and lower prices, Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi said.

  • “We have to put gas in the long-term energy transition coupled with other solutions, renewables are the first one but also decarbonisation of the hard-to-abate”, he said.
  • A price cap on European gas prices is not the final solution to the energy crisis in Europe, he added. He also rejected the idea that the EU could rely only on renewables for its energy needs.
