European Gas Storage Already Over 80% Despite Low Injection Rates

European natural gas storage is up over 80% full despite the ongoing low injection rates as total gas in store rises to 80.15% full on 11 July according to GIE data compared to the five year average of 65.3%.

  • Net European storage injections have averaged about 16% below normal in the week to 11 July at a rate of 3,070Wh/d compared to the five year average for the period of about 3,650GWh/d.
  • Despite the below normal injection rates storage is still on track to comfortably reach the EU 90% full target before winter.
  • Storage in Germany is at 207.5Wh (82.9% full), Italy is at 162.0TWh (83.0%), Netherlands at 117.1TWh (82.2%), Austria at 81.8TWh (84.4%) and France at 88.6TWh (66.2%).
