Eutelsat Satellites Faced Interference From Russian Sources

  • BBG sources report that European satellite companies, notably French operator Eutelsat, have faced interference from Russia, disrupting broadcasts since mid-March until at least the end of May and on two occasions sending war footage to children’s TV channels.
  • France’s Agence Nationale des Frequences identified interference from Russian earth stations; the issue will be discussed at the ITU’s Radio Regulations Board meeting in late June. Russia has also disrupted GPS signals, affecting flights and maritime traffic in Estonia and Finland. Similar satellite interference complaints have been filed by Sweden, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
