Exit Polls Vague But Some Interesting Information From CNN Poll

US

Some outlets releasing exit polls for various questions, such as 'should controlling COVID-19 or supporting the economy be the focus of the gov't?' or 'do you support legalised abortion?', with little from these questions being indicative of the outcome of the election.

  • One of the more interesting exit polls is one from CNN showing the ethnicity of voters.
  • White: 65%, Hispanic: 13%, Black: 12%, Asian: 3%
  • In the 2016 election, 74% of those who voted were white. This group swings more heavily towards Trump in opinion polls.
  • Black and Asian voters by-and-large swing heavily behind the Democrats. There is more of a divide among Hispanic voters, although this group leans more towards Biden than Trump except in some key swing states such as Florida.
  • As such, a decline in the percentage of white voters as a proportion of the entire election could bode well for Biden.
