Exxon Plans 2024 Overhaul Of Beaumont Refinery

REFINING

ExxonMobil plans two multi-unit overhauls at its Beaumont, Texas refinery in 2024, according to Reuters.

  • In January, Exxon will shut down the hydrocracker for maintenance. This is key for producing around 65k b/d of diesel.
  • At the same time, it will shut and conduct work on a hydrotreater. The hydrotreater is used to remove sulfur from products. This allows fuels to comply with environmental regulations.
  • In August 2024, the 180k b/d CDU and the 60k b/d coker will be then shut down for works. CDUs break down crude into feedstocks.
  • The refinery produces 619,024 b/d and is the second largest in the USA.
