Far-Right Vox Ahead Of PP In Poll For Only The Second Time

Latest opinion poll from Simple Logica shows the far-right nationalist Vox party ahead of the centre-right People's Party (PP) for only the second time ever.

  • General election poll: Spanish Socialist Workers' Party: 27.1% (-1.7), Vox: 18.5% (+1.6), PP: 17.5% (-1.3), Unidos Podemos: 11% (+0.7), Citizens: 7.6% (-1.6). Simple Logica, 09/03/21. Chgs w/01-05/02/21.
  • The main opposition PP remains in a state of disarray amidst a long-running corruption scandal involving former senior party officials. The party recorded its worst-ever result in the Catalan regional election in February.
  • This stands in stark contrast to Vox, which has gone from strength to strength, emerging as the largest pro-Spanish union party on the right in the Catalan election.
  • In a number of regional elections, and indeed at the federal level, Vox - the most hardline of any party in opposing any form of devolution to regional administrations - is swiftly becoming the repository for voters strongly opposed to independence movements in Spain's autonomous communities, a position previously held by the PP.
