February Economic Activity, March Unemployment Due Today

  • Economic activity data for February will be released at 1600BST(1100ET), with the market expecting annual growth to pick up to +2.1% y/y, from +1.4% in January. March unemployment data will also cross, with consensus there for an increase in the unemployment rate to 7.6%, from 7.3%.
    • Lima Unemployment Rate, March, est. 7.6%, prior 7.3%
    • Economic Activity YoY, Feb., est. 2.1%, prior 1.4%
  • Meanwhile, BCRP’s monetary policy manager Carlos Montoro has said that the recently approved pension withdrawal is not expected to impact inflation. He said that individuals who withdraw from their pension funds are expected to have high incomes and invest that money in some other way.
