Modest economic growth, delinquencies get a mention with some Districts reporting them higher on consumer credit.


  • Latest: Contacts from most Districts indicated economic growth was modest during July and August. Consumer spending on tourism was stronger than expected, surging during what most contacts considered the last stage of pent-up demand for leisure travel from the pandemic era. […] Most indicated that consumer loan balances rose, and some Districts reported higher delinquencies on consumer credit lines
  • July: Overall economic activity increased slightly since late May. Five Districts reported slight or modest growth, five noted no change, and two reported slight and modest declines. Overall economic expectations for the coming months generally continued to call for slow growth.
