Newswire headlines have crossed from ex Fed official BIll Dudley, who is speaking at a forum in Singapore.
Reuters notes: "FORMER NEW YORK FED PRESIDENT BILL DUDLEY: STRONG CASE FOR 50 BP U.S. RATE CUT - [RTRS]"
It adds: "I think there's a strong case for 50, whether they're going to do it or not," he said at the Bretton Woods Committee's annual Future of Finance Forum in Singapore." (RTRS)
This comes after recent media speculation (WSJ/FT), which was kicked off in the US Thursday session, that a 25bps versus 50bps rate cut was a close call for the Fed next week.
Post this week's firmer than expected core US CPI print, market expectations had trended more towards a 25bps cut.
