Finance Minister Denies Reports That He Has Resigned

  • Finance Minister Alex Contreras denied on Thursday evening that he would resign, capping off a session filled with rumours of an imminent departure from his post. “I feel comfortable,” he told reporters about his role as minister, following a meeting with President Dina Boluarte.
  • While Daily La Republica initially reported Contreras had resigned, business newspaper Gestion later said he had only drafted a resignation letter but not yet presented it. USDPEN initially spiked on the reports, gradually fading to finish lower on the day by the close.
