CHINA: Fitch release a report on Chinese banks and maintain their negative view
on the sector, expect continued regulatory scrutiny in 2018.
- Also expect Chinese banks to face net interest margin pressures and declining
profitability, noting smaller banks will be particularly affected.
- Say could reconsider outlook for banks if efforts to promote deleveraging are
successful and sustained.
- Expect credit growth to decline again in 2018, but say a drop in shadow bank
lending should be offset by on balance sheet lending.
