FM: "France Should Avoid Steps That Will Increase Tensions In East Med"

Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu, speaking at a joint event with his Swiss counterpart, has stated that France should "avoid steps that will increase tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean".

  • Added that "Any Greek attempts to harass Turkish seismic vessel, Oruç Reis, in the Eastern Mediterranean would be met with proper response accordingly" and "The EU should invite Greece to think benevolently, instead of giving unconditional support to Greece."
  • Tensions continue to escalate over a Turkish research vessel intending to carry out seismic surveys operating in disputed waters in the Eastern Mediterranean.
  • France has increased its naval presence in the region in support of Greece.
