FM Lavrov: Moscow Urges NATO Not To Move Further East

RUSSIA

Speaking at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov states that 'Moscow will urge NATO not to move any further east, and will await a response. Russia will put forward its plans for NATO non-expansion soon.'

  • Also states that attempts to amend 'crucial aspects' of the Minsk agreement in eastern Ukraine are a "recipe for disaster....The West's supply of weapons to Ukraine encourages them to think that regional problems can be solved by force."
  • Comes as Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken meet on the meeting's sidelines.
