Foreign Flows Dominate Weekly International Security Flow Data

JAPAN

Japanese investors shed modest net amounts of foreign bonds and equities last week, per the most recent round of Japanese weekly international security flow data, with net flows remaining subdued as we move towards the end of the Japanese FY.

  • The international investor side of the ledger provided much more interest. An incremental uptick in offshore investor net purchases of Japanese bonds resulted in the largest weekly round of such net purchases since December, for a second consecutive week. Meanwhile, foreign investors shed net exposure to Japanese equities at the quickest clip observed since September.
