TURKEY: Foreign Minister Discusses Syria Tensions at NATO Meetings

  • Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in Syria, according to Hurriyet’s diplomatic sources, along with a series of NATO meetings in Brussels. At the NATO meetings, Fidan informed his counterparts about the multifaceted problems stemming from Syria as one of the sources of the regional instability and demanded support from the allies.
  • President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Japan's Crown Prince Akishino Fumihito on Wednesday during the latter’s official visit to Turkey, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency. Their 6-day visit commemorates the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
  • The central bank will publish weekly portfolio capital flows data at 11:30GMT/14:30 local time. Meanwhile, President Erdogan chairs a National Security Council meeting at 13:00GMT/16:00 local in Ankara.
