Further Delay to Altamira FLNG but Set for First Full Cargo in June

The Altamira FLNG facility faces a further start up delay due to a pipe fracture incident according to New Fortress Energy with output expected later in May.

  • The company is however still in the final stages of commissioning, with the first full cargo anticipated in June.
  • The fractured pipe inside the cold box on April 26 has been contained, and repairs are expected to be completed by next weekend, said CEO Chris Guinta.
  • The 1.4mtpa project has faced multiple delays since its initial target of September 2023.
  • First gas was introduced to the plant in December, and the team is working diligently to bring the project online soon.
  • The Altamira project will use US feedgas exported via the Sur de Texas-Tuxpan pipeline through Mexico.
