FOREX: G10 FX space trades in a risk-off mode, even as U.S. equity index futures
have erased losses and regional stock indices trade on a stronger footing. The
Antipodeans underperform their peers ahead of the release of flash Australian
trade data, due at the bottom of the hour. PMI Surveys released earlier out of
Australia and Japan registered at fresh record lows. USD and JPY sit atop the
pile as we type.
- USD/KRW has looked past flash GDP data reported by South Korea. The data was
better than expected, but indicated that the economy contracted 1.4% Q/Q in the
first quarter, with FinMin Hong warning that fallout from the coronavirus
pandemic may be greater in Q2.
- Looking ahead, global preliminary PMI Surveys take focus today, with U.S.
initial jobless claims & new home sales also due. BoE's Vlieghe will speak.
