 Germany’s energy lobby group BDEW is calling on the future new German government to rapidly build out new gas-fired capacity. 

  • Germany needs tenders for new gas power plants, long-term frameworks for CHP plant investments and an integrated capacity market, BDEW chairwoman Kerstin Andreae said.
  • “Natural gas will remain indispensable for security of supply for some time to come”, she added.
  • Andrea also calls for an integrated concept that supports the renewable and grid expansion, flexibility and controllable power capacities together.
  • The German election will take place on 23 February.
