German Minister Calls For Expert Committee On Nuclear Extension

Germany's transport minister, Volker Wissing, called for an expert committee to examine whether the lifespan of the country's nuclear plants should be extended, according to Reuters.

  • "We need an expert answer to the question of how we can ensure we have stable and affordable energy supplies while also achieving our climate protection goals," Wissing told Frankfurter Allgemeine.
  • Germany has extended the phase out of its three nuclear reactors Isar 2, Emsland and Neckarwestheim 2 to April 2023, from end 2022 previously scheduled.
