German Can't Relying on Nord Stream This Winter

NATURAL GAS

Germany’s Economy Minister Robert Habeck said earlier today that Germany can’t rely on gas supplies from Russia this winter.

  • The three day maintenance to the Nord Stream pipeline is due to end after tomorrow but Europe has little confidence that the 20% of capacity flows will resume.
  • “There are no direct talks between my ministry and Gazprom,” said Habeck. “What I do expect is that we cannot rely in any way on Russia, or on Gazprom, the rest is pure speculation,” he added. “We should not count on gas coming via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline over the winter.”
