German Power Funds Positioning Turns More Bullish

Investment funds positioning in ICE German power futures turned more bullish for the second consecutive week with net short positioning declining to the lowest since late August 2023 according to the latest COT data for the week of 2 August.

  • Investment Funds net short position decreased by 300,442 to -158,513
  • Investment Firms net long position rose by 11,486 to +941,070
  • Commercial Undertaking net short position rose by 269,798 to -982,652
  • German front-month power baseload rallied last week amid gains in the wider energy complex, with previous support from potential export restrictions on France’s eastern borders.
