Germans Plans To Stop Buying Russian Energy In The Future: Scholz

Germany will be able to completely stop buying Russian energy resources in the future, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.

  • "We are making the necessary decisions now to become independent in the long term," Scholz said.
  • Scholz said he is confident that Germany will be able to successfully get through the winter and remain a strong industrial power.
  • Germany expects to establish new energy import channels.
  • Last month, Germany signed a LNG long-term supply with Qatar, in an effort to move away from Russian gas imports.
  • Starting from 2045, Germany plans to be climate neutral and produce energy without natural gas, coal and oil, he added.
