LNG

Germany agrees on the financing of the new LNG terminal in Stade

  • Money provided by the federal and state governments will finance a key part of the costs of the project which will be operated by the Hanseatic Energy Hub.
  • The terminal in Stade is expected to be operational by the end of 2023 as Germany accelerated the construction of new LNG terminals.
  • Five new floating LNG terminals are planned at sites at Stade, Wilhelmshaven, Brunsbuettel and Lubmin. They will each be capable of importing at least 5bcm of gas per year.
  • Wilhelmshaven is aiming to be operational from the end of 2022 with one FRSU and a second will arrive in Winter 23/24.
  • Brunsbuettel is expecting to deliver gas from late 2022 or early 2023. A permanent LNG facility is planned for Brunsbuettel in the future.
  • Lubmin is expecting to be operational at the end of 2023 at the earliest, but a private FRSU could be brought into service earlier.
