Germany New Solar PV Additions Plunge in May

Germany added 948MW of new solar PV capacity in May, down from 1.18GW in April and the lowest level since at least June 2023, Bnetza data showed.

  • German total solar PV capacity stood at 88.85GW at the end of May.
  • New onshore wind additions in May declined to 135MW, down from 241.9MW in April and also the lowest since at least June 2023.
  • Onshore wind capacity in Germany stood at 61.81GW at the end of May.
  • Germany also added 210.8MW of new offshore wind capacity in May.
  • Total German offshore wind capacity stood at 8.68GW at the end of last month.
