Germany Receives €0.00/kWh Bids in 2.5GW Offshore Wind Tender

Germany’s Federal Network Agency received serval €0.00/kWh bids in its interim results for a 2.5GW offshore wind tender in the North Sea, the agency said, cited by Renews.biz.

  • A total of nine bids were received for the 1.5GW N-11.2 zone, with seven bids placed for the 1GW N-12.3 area.
  • All bidders placed €0.00/kWh bids, “make it clear that offshore wind energy is economically attractive,” the agency president Klaus Muller said.
  • This waved the potential subsidies available to developers who submitted the bids.
  • The agency will announce the final results on its website.
  • In 2023, €12bn of bids were awarded for four sites, with a total capacity of 7GW.
  • Germany plans to build more wind power plants in the North and Baltic Seas than originally planned, aiming to have 60GW of wind by 2037 from the original 40GW for 2035.
