Global Airline Capacity Steady on Week: OAG

Global Airline Capacity has been largely stable in the week commencing Dec. 4 at 103.4m seats, according to OAG.

  • This is a small increase of 0.3% on the week, but 3.1% the same period in 2019.
  • The forecast for 2023 total capacity is stable at 5.5 billion seats, 3.7% below 2019 levels and 17.3% up on 2022.
  • Domestic capacity is falling during the week in Northeast Asia, down by 246k seats, or 1.3%.
  • International capacity has been boosted by rises in Western Europe, where capacity is expanding in anticipation of Christmas and New Year holiday travel.
