Global Implied Jet Fuel Demand to Rise 1% on Week: BNEF

Global implied jet fuel demand in the week commencing June 17 is set to rise as upward as summer travelling season gets into full swing, according to BNEF.

  • Implied jet fuel demand is set to rise by 1% on the week to 6.86m b/d.
  • The rise is primarily driven by the Northern Hemisphere, namely Asia, North America, and Europe.
  • Asia’s jet fuel demand is showing the largest rise on the week, up 18.4k b/d, or 1%, to 1.99m b/d. This is up 9.1% on the year.
  • In China, the scheduled domestic flight count is set to rise by 3% between June 18-June 24 to 96.1k flights.
  • Only Sub-Saharan Africa is seeing a week on week fall in demand, although it is up 3.7% on the year.
  • Only North America’s jet fuel demand is lower year-on-year, down by 0.1%, or 1.8k b/d.
