Gov Remolona Says BSP May Cut Twice This Year, Potential August Cut Would Likely Be 25bp

Bloomberg runs comments from BSP Governor Eli Remolona, who says that Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas may cut rates twice this year and may lower rates before the Fed does. The official adds that the BSP may deliver a 25bp cut if it decides to reduce rates in August.

  • This comes after the BSP left interest rates unchanged today, but Remolona flagged potential for starting monetary easing later this year, potentially in August.
