Government Decides to Extend Supermarket Food Discount Scheme

HUNGARY
The government has decided to extend mandatory discounts big supermarkets must offer regularly on a number of food products until the end of the year, a government spokeswoman said on Thursday as per MTI.
  • The measure, rolled out by the government in June to bring down inflation, was set to expire at the end of September.
  • Retailers are required to discount selected food products in a number of categories by 15% on a regular basis.
