Greek Energy Savers Rewarded with Greater Subsidies

Greek energy consumers who cut their consumption over the winter will be rewarded with bigger power bill subsidies according to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

  • "The more energy you save compared to last year's bill... the bigger subsidy you will get," Mitsotakis said.
  • Mitsotakis said the government will levy Greek refiners' windfall revenue and use the proceeds to offer across-the-board subsidies for heating oil.
  • He added there was nearly a “zero chance” of power cuts over winter.
