Hungary Allows Nuclear Plant to Run Despite Exceeding River Temp Limits

The Hungarian energy ministry has allowed its 1.91GW Paks nuclear power plant to operate even when the released cooling water surpasses Danube river temperature limits, it said, cited by Bloomberg.

  • Power supply continuity is determined on a case-by-case basis as per a recent decree.
  • The temperature of the Danube at the plant in Paks climbed to 29.5C on Thursday – which led to one of the units reducing capacity.
