Hungary's PV Capacity Climbs to 6.7GW

Hungary added 673MW of solar capacity in 1H 2024, pushing its total installed capacity to around 6.71GW, the Energy Affairs ministry said, cited by BNE IntelliNews.

  • 3.67GW of PV capacity is attributed to plants over 50kW, with 2.51GW from household solar plants, with a further 520MW of household PV not connected to the grid.
  • The government is aiming for renewable energy to meet 29% of its consumption by 2030, with the share of solar rising to 12GWh by the same date.
  • Its nuclear capacity is also expected at 4.4GW amid the expansion of units at the Paks nuclear plant.
