Ice Restrictions to Increase at Inkoo

LNG

Ice-class restrictions at Finland’s Inkoo port will increase from Jan. 13, but are unlikely to affect LNG deliveries, according to Argus.

  • There are already restrictions in place at Inkoo, limiting entry to vessels of at least ice-class II and 2k mt deadweight.
  • However, restrictions will increase to ice-class I minimum and 2k mt deadweight from Jan. 13
  • One of Inkoo’s two main importers, Eesti Gas, has secured deliveries from ice-class vessels. Thus, the higher restrictions are unlikely to affect imports.
  • Gas consumption fell to 95 GWh on Jan. 7, down from the record of 134 GWh Jan. 4. However, with temperatures dropping to minus 15 by Jan. 11, heating demand is expected to rise.
