India’s Fuel Demand Rises 3.1% YoY In December

India’s fuel consumption, a proxy for oil demand, rose 3.1% year on year in December to 19.6mn tonnes, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry show.

  • Sales of gasoline were 5.9% higher at 2.98mn tonnes.
  • India’s oil demand is expected to gain 350kbpd on the year in 2023, equivalent to a 8.7% year-on-year increase, according to Energy Intelligence.
