"Instant Answers" For Today's FOMC Decision

FED

We will be running "Instant Answers" for today's FOMC decision at 1400ET (this feature was formerly called "Human Readable Algo" - see our Fed preview for more info). We'll publish the answers to these questions shortly after the Fed decision is released. The questions that we have selected for this meeting are:

  • Does the statement alter the sentence: "over coming months the Federal Reserve will increase its holdings of Treasury securities and agency mortgage-backed securities at least at the current pace to sustain smooth market functioning and help foster accommodative financial conditions, thereby supporting the flow of credit to households and businesses."?
  • Does the FOMC attach economic conditions to its guidance on asset purchases?
  • Does the FOMC say it plans to shift asset purchases to buying more longer-term securities?
  • Does the FOMC say it plans to shift asset purchases to buying more/less MBS?
  • Does the FOMC announce a QE program that's different than the current statement on asset purchases?
  • Any dissenters favoring more/less accommodative policy?
  • Fed funds rate/IOER?
