Iran October Crude Exports Dropped to Below 1mbpd

Iranian crude oil exported fell by 460kbpd on the month to just under 1mbpd in October, compared with an average of 1.37mbpd in the previous six months, as Chinese buyers are more cautious, Kpler data showed.

  • “The reasons behind this decline are likely directly linked with rising tensions in the Middle East as the Israel-Hamas war goes on”, Kpler analyst Homayoun Falakshahi said.
  • “The war could trigger stricter sanctions enforcement of US secondary sanctions,” Falakshahi added.
  • “Up until now, NIOC’s discount of around $10-12/bbl to ICE Brent has just been too good to ignore for independent Chinese refiners,” he said.
